Both Macy and Carter had a very busy week at school this week and with extracurricular activities too. They are very glad this week is over! This is Macy at dance recital rehearsal and soccer try-outs, both on the same day after school! Both were a success, and we are hoping for a great recital and a spot on the "A Team" in soccer. Needless to say Macy is a tired girl!....
This is what Carter looks like after a week of presentations at school and an incredibly cold peer-tutor picnic in a hailstorm, (flip-flops & no coat didn't help the situation any!) Congratulations to Carter for making it through the week! It was very stressful and she did great! Now it's time to sleep!

A few of our Memorial Day activities......
Consisted of Carter and Macy having a "Lemon Sorbet" chase around the house.....
and a "cupcake bake" for Macy's birthday tomorrow! She baked and decorated these all by herself (my services are becoming rarer these days it seems...). We also took Macy out for a family birthday dinner tonight, and will have grandparents over tomorrow night for the big celebration! I can't believe that she is going to be "10" years old tomorrow! Life really is a dash....

It's Back!!
Just me & May....
Macy and I had our own "date" night last night due to Drew's plane ride to New Jersey, and Carter's sleepover with friends. First on the agenda, an eye appointment for Macy to have her eyes examined. And guess what! She needs glasses... big surprise!!! Actually not a surprise at all considering I am basically blind, and Carter wears contacts too! She only needs to wear them while looking at the board in school and not while she is playing soccer and dancing. Hooray!
Afterward we thought it best to go home & chill since Macy had her eyes dilated. We curled up on the couch and watched "Holes". Such a great movie! Then we topped it off with a little "Soup", (sorry Carter we watched it without you and Joel McHale was in rare form again!) Then it was time for bed. It was a fun, casual evening, and really nice to spend some time with May! We did miss Drew & Carter though, and hoped they were having fun too!

Lazy Sunday's.....
Who needs a new dog when you have.....
BOGEY!!!!
We consider Bogey to be our "Surrogate" dog. He lives right across the street, comes over every day and plays fetch, we give him lots of pets and bones, and then he goes back home. It is nothing but a Win-Win situation for all of us! All the fun without the hassle! He's sporting a fabulous new summer buzz cut these days too!

Introducing.....
Ethan, Jenny & Oktober! These are the students that Carter peer-tutors. She loves them and they LOVE her! Ethan calls Carter "My Car-er". Too cute! Jenny and Oktober will head to Treasure Mountain Middle School with Carter, but unfortunately Ethan will remain at Ecker for one more year. We are hoping that we will be able to make a schedule change at TMMS and Carter will get to peer-tutor as a class next year. Word is out that she is on her way there, so hopefully there won't be any problems making that change. Carter's peer-tutoring teacher says Carter is one of the best and has loved having her in the class this year. I have had an an opportunity to watch Carter work with the students, and she truly has a gift!
** Ethan has been very sick this week, so we are sending him our well wishes for a quick recovery! **

Fun Party with Mrs. Black!
Macy had a great time yesterday celebrating her teacher's birthday! There was cake & ice cream, balloons & streamers and as each child entered the classroom, they handed her a rose and gave her their own special wish. Mrs. Black is such a great teacher and was so deserving of such an awesome party! We wish that Macy could have her every year until she graduates from High School we love her that much!

"What's in my Office?" Wednesday.....
I was puttering around my office this afternoon, and realized I was a little dismayed with all the stuff which has accumulated in there. I've decided it might be fun to post a little something each week that I come across. It might be something which I have created or something someone else in this family has created and is just too fun not to share. The picture below is this Wednesday's choice! Carter's very first "Person" drawing! I think she was maybe just shy of two when she drew it (I should have dated it upon completion). I fell in love with it the moment I saw it and immediately had to frame it and hang it on the wall. Needless to say, I have kept just about every picture, card, note, that Carter & Macy have made for me. How is it possible to throw any one of them away? I can't remember if Carter named this drawing, I'll have to ask her... What is fun about this, is that she still loves to draw stick figures! The latest drawings do wear clothes and have hair now....

Where did the weekend go?
I had all these grand ideas of things that I wanted to accomplish this weekend such as cleaning out messy closets, detailing the inside of my car or even just sitting down with a good book (it was mother's day after all)... But this is what I ended up doing instead....
Major Jeremy Ranch Elementary School volunteering! It's Macy's teachers birthday this week, so I ended up making a very large birthday card for the kids to sign, along with a very large birthday banner to hang on her door. When I had those done, I started making 27 chairs for Macy's class to paint as a "Masterpieces in Art" project. You can see Macy's almost finished piece in the photo. She's always very willing to "test drive" the projects first to see if they are fun. What I really wanted to be doing was sitting on a rock under the umbrella with Carter & Macy spending some quality time! That's my plan for next weekend! Lots of quality family time!

A Sleepy Visitor.....
Out of boredom, Carter and Macy decided to chase each other around the yard this afternoon. Just as they came ripping around the corner heading towards the swing set, this is who they ran in to....
Needless to say, they were a little freaked out and came bolting back in the house! You think they would have learned by now that the moose around here are very gentle creatures. They like to sit and munch on the undergrowth and new shoots, and then lay down and have a nap. Sounds nice doesn't it? So that's exactly what this female moose was doing - eating a little and then having a nap. This is what I love about living in the mountains, all the wildlife up close and personal! I wouldn't trade it for anything!

It's official!
I managed to beat the lottery and have claimed an entry spot in this year's St. George Marathon! Which is pretty amazing considering I entered online 2 hours before registration ended, 10,500 people registered and only 6,000 spots are open. I guess if you have already run it 8 times, you pretty much have a guaranteed spot in the race. I just can't believe I have to run it 2 more times before I can become an official "10 Year Club" member and no longer have to worry about entry by lottery. Well, here's hoping these old bones can handle another summer of "20 miler" Saturdays and that the stomach can digest another 100 or so packs of GU!.... (Why do I keep doing this to myself?)

New Biz Card!
We Bedford girls are trying hard to get this little business off the ground! Macy was very successful selling at her school's art festival a few week's ago, and hopefully we will be accepted at the "Park Silly Market" this summer. Drew has decided that Macy's job is design, Carter's is marketing and I'm production. We'll keep you updated on our progress!

Stupid things you do to kill time when you don't feel well.....
Take insanely silly quizzes! I found out the following about myself today.....
If I were an Easter Candy, I would be a "Cream Egg".
If I were a baby animal, I would be a "Lion Cub".
If I were a sandwich, I would be "PB&J".
Am I gullible? I'm "Positively Astute".
If I were a celebrity shoe, I would be "Diablo Cody's Mary Janes".
How will I save the planet? By being an "Energy Avenger".
If I were a president, I would be "President of the Student Body".
What I would wear to the Oscars... the "Not So Basic Black Dress".
My celebrity family.... the "Jolie-Pitts".
How old am I mentally... in my "40's!" Imagine that....
I REALLY NEED to start feeling better soon!

Breakfast with Carter....
Drew took Carter & I out to breakfast this morning at our favorite spot, the "Morning Ray" at the top of main street. It was nice to sit and have a leisurely breakfast, catching up on what is going on in Carter's world. There is excitement for the upcoming summer, employment opportunities being a special needs aide, deciding wether to join the swim team or not to join the swim team. And of course, the anticipation of starting 8th grade in a new school in the fall, wondering what will the classes and teachers be like. We had much to talk about, and probably could have spent several hours there just chatting away. We had a really nice time!
Bend it like Bedford!
