Last Minute Rehearsal....
Yes, I'm Going to Gloat!
I don't think Drew and I could have been any prouder of Macy on Friday night! Her solo was an absolute success with her placing 1st in Lyrical and winning the biggest prize of the night with the "Overall Highest Points Scored" award (out of 68 girls who performed ranging in ages 7 - 13). You can see she won a huge trophy for that one - it stands only a foot shorter than she is! And along with the trophy she won $100.00! I think she was most excited about that! She was so nervous when we arrived, especially because she had to compete first and against a teammate who she thought for sure was going to beat her. But she danced so beautifully (I don't think she could have done any better), I think she set the bar for the rest of her competitors. As they were calling out the awards starting from 5th place up to 1st, each time they didn't call her name, my heart beat faster. When her teammate placed 3rd, and they didn't call Macy 2nd, everyone began screaming! Macy had won her division! After all those awards were given, they ended with the 3 biggest of the night - best costume + $25, best showmanship + $25 & overall high points + $100.00. After the first two were called, the thought of "what if Macy has won this last award?" crossed my mind very briefly. And low and behold, she actually won it! It was great to see the Dance Studio owners jumping up and down and cheering for her too! We were all so proud!
Some of the judges comments were, "Gorgeous dancer, really feels the music & shows emotion", Beautiful choreography, great emotion, especially for such a young dancer! Impressive!" Now we get to do it all over again this weekend! Hopefully it will go as well this Friday, as it did last Friday!
I'm done gloating now.... for a minute anyway....
A girl & her Trophies! All Macy's friends from PC Dance Academy placed high!
Macy & Sierra - all smiles and very relieved!
Best friends Ellie (who placed 1st in Jazz), Sissy the best supporter ever, and Macy's cheering squad in Carter and Mallory (thanks for screaming so loudly)!

A Late Winter, Early Spring Visitor....
We have come to realize that this teen moose has probably been hanging out in our yard all winter nesting under 3 huge pine trees. Macy trekked down to the trees and saw a huge amount of moose hair all over the snow, not to mention what she called "a bunch of chocolate eggs".... These photos were taken this morning by Macy from Carter's room. They decided to name the moose "Rico" until I had to remind them that this was a female (no horn growth...) so they renamed her "Ria". She hung out in our yard all day long, napping eating & running back and forth. Pretty fun to watch! We'll enjoy her while she's here, with the temps warming up, I don't think she'll be around much longer...

The First Judging....
Macy presented her Solo on Saturday to her fellow classmates, teachers & judges that were asked to come in and provide some critiques. I think Macy psyched herself out waiting to perform - she was a little nervous up there, and it showed. She said it's much scarier to perform in front of people you know than complete strangers. She did dance it beautifully and the only negative comments were "point your toes at all times, complete each movement completely & remember to connect with the audience". The positives were "you're such a beautiful dancer and we love to watch you perform, you have great stage presence & beautiful expression". Yesterday she spent at least 3 hours practicing, and must have rehearsed her routine no less than 30 times (I'm NOT kidding!). She is feeling way more confident now! Lets hope she stays feeling that way!
She did decide on a costume change - this dress didn't allow for enough freedom of movement, so she decided to go with something else.....

A Best Friend.....
Everybody's got to have one, and Carter's is Mallory! Mallory cracks me up! She has more energy than anyone I know (we're talking Positive Energy not negative), and can talk a mile a minute... literally! I really think she can! Most importantly she's a trustworthy friend to Carter and always has her back, which I appreciate so much! With all the teen drama that goes on at their age, it's good to have a BFF! I'm so glad Mallory & Carter found each other this year!
