You've all heard me talk "Lovingly" about our surrogate dog Bogie from across the street, the one who we pour affection on, provide treats and balls, and let wander into our house on occasion. Well I'm sure you can imagine my horror when I walked outside the other night and saw him looking like this....Ewwwwwwwww!
(Even Macy didn't want to touch him, and that's a first!)
The next day he appeared at our door looking like this! His owners must have been really grossed out too! Now we like to call him "Buzzdog" and he's welcome to wander in the house occasionally again....
Funny how you can change from a Golden Retriever to a Lab with just a hair cut!

Funny Conversation at the Pool....
As overheard by Carter, Macy & myself:
4 year old boy: "Mom, who was the first person on the earth?"
Mom: "I told you, Adam & Eve."
4 year old boy: "No it wasn't, it was George Washington!"
(hehehehehehe....)
(I'm not sure if this picture is Washington or Jefferson, but I thought it fit the conversation...)
((I stand corrected - Carter just informed me that this is some French dude... I should have looked at the picture more carefully))

Another Volunteer Extraordinaire!
All this week Carter has been volunteering at the summer camps held at the National Ability Center. She has been having a blast! She loves these kids, loves doing all sorts of activities with them and just generally hanging out. And they love her! A boy named Landon has a crush on her as he seems to get jealous when she helps the other kids. Pretty funny! Carter plans on volunteering all summer long which Drew and I think is great. We are so proud of her, she is such a natural with these kids, and maybe in the future will be able to make some sort of career out of this type of work. She's hoping to anyway!Landon & Carter
Cute Jenny Beem!
This is Alisha, who Carter says is one of the sweetest girls she's ever met!

Volunteer Extraordinaire!
So Drew and I decided to take a pass on running the Ragnar Marathon Relay this year, but that didn't stop Bonnie from calling us to ask if we would be the Jogbras & LeatherLungs team volunteers. In order for a team to run the race, you have to provide the race organizers with some help along the course. Due to the fact that you just can't say no to Bonnie, Drew & I agreed to help at the finish line. We thought the easiest thing to do would be to "Tag Team" it so one person wouldn't have to be there for 6 hours straight. Our assignment was to work the Tee-Shirt Booth passing out the team bags, exchanging sizes & so on. Well look who tagged along because she was bored, was the best volunteer ever, and didn't want to leave when our time was up: Macy! She was right up there in front, helping people out, answering questions & passing things out. I was in the back searching for sizes and trying the keep the shirts in stock, and eventually had to leave because the orange glow of the tent was killing my eyes. But I couldn't get Macy to leave, she just kept on working!
This is the look you get on your face when you're dealing with runners who are tired, sweaty & want the finish line goodies handed to them on a silver platter (I know this having been a finisher myself many times)!
I'm thinking that there is going to be another runner in this family for sure - Macy says she's already thinking of the Cross-Country team in high school! Carter on the other hand, was the smart one opting to stay home out of the rain & take a nap!

Power-Walkin'
So one of Carter's goals this summer is to get some heavy duty walking in everyday to help with the stiffness of her JRA. So yesterday we all put on our walkin' shoes (except Macy who chose to ride her scooter instead - we didn't mind, she gets enough exercise as it is), and headed up the mountain. Of course I had to take the camera along because I'm not one to miss a photo op, and below are some of the pics we took. We all love Park City this time of year when everything is so green and pretty, it makes all the winter suffering worth it! Along with the amazing views, I'm also loving Carter's interpretation of the "Flashdance" look!

Slumdog + Ice Cream = Celebration!
There's no better way to celebrate the end of the school year than with a good movie and some ice cream! So that's exactly what we all did on Friday night (except me because I don't enjoy ice cream - crazy, I know), we had a huge ice cream bar & a little Slumdog Millionaire viewing. Carter & Macy went to bed all sugared up and with relief knowing that they get to sleep as much as they want for the next eight weeks! Hooray!Desicions, desicions!Ingredients & options.....

Clap-Outs & Silly String Wars! Goodbye 5th Grade!
So today was FINALLY the last day of school, and it couldn't have come sooner! This week in Macy's classroom, 3 kids were out with swine flu, 3 out with chicken pox, 1 home ill throwing up (as was most of the fourth grade so I'm told) and many other students out with strep! Over at Treasure Mountain Middle School, Carter said half of the 8th grade girls were sent home with swine flu. Enough already! Luckily the Bedford girls seem to have come out of it unscathed... knock on wood! Now for the fun part, we got to "Clap" Macy out of 5th grade! The whole school and any family & friends come to the playground and form a snake like tunnel which all the graduating 5th graders then get to walk through while everyone claps. There were many air horns, loud music, silly string being shot & of course, clapping. Below are some shots of the chaos! I still can't believe that Macy and her cute friends are now off to middle school... crazy stuff!Clapping out!
The Silly String wars begin....

She Survived 8th Grade!
She deserves a medal! That was one of the most torturous, non-challenging years Carter has experienced! So here's to a fun summer and hopefully a way more challenging year next fall!Time to celebrate!
If you squint, maybe you can find Carter's year-book picture...
A French Certificate of Merit... I'm sure you can appreciate this Eleanor!
And you guessed it... another one for the endless stack!
