Our Weekend.....

Drew was smart and headed south to go climbing and golf, we girls hunkered down in the house and...painted. Always fun when it's cold outside!

Oh, and then I went out and dealt with this! I am SOOOOO sick of snow! Enough already!

A 2nd Place, a 2nd Place, a 2nd Place & a Best in Category!

The results are in! Macy's dance class placed 2nd in each of their dances yesterday, and received an award for Best in Category in Tap. Now I'm not sure how you can receive a 2nd place award in Tap and then a Best in Category for the same dance number, but then I've never been able to figure out just how this judging stuff works... Unfortunately the Ballet number did not include their tambourines since somebody forgot to bring them, so they ended up clapping their way through the number. Not sure if this was why they received 2nd place or not... We were a little disappointed, but the dance studio owners said that 2nd Place was great considering it was their first competition. Most importantly, I think they had a really good time, and that's what they really want to do, have a good time! (Some of the other studios dancers walk around with very stuck up attitudes, but not our girls - thank heavens!)Getting ready!

The Jazz number this year is incredibly high energy, and as you can see, very colorful. You wouldn't believe the sizing issues we have had with these costumes. None of the correct sizes were ordered, so there was a LOT of swapping around. Macy originally had pink, swapped for Sissy's green, then she swapped with Ellie for her pink and so on.... but it all worked out in the end, they had a great performance!

Classroom Brawl!

Macy's tap dance this is year is a funny take on friendship. The girls alternate acting like best friends and then wanting to catfight - with tapping in between. This dance was really fun because each of the girls personalities really came out. I had never seen this dance before yesterday and thought it was absolutely hilarious! Macy can really look mean when she wants to!
Going for the JUGULAR!

DANCE OFF! Macy decided to enter the "Dance Off" this year, where the girls are taught a dance combination in about 4 minutes and then dance it over and over in front of the judges. It is a process of elimination - unfortunately she and Kenzie were in the bathroom when they started, so by the time they got on the stage, the steps were already being taught. Next time she will be on time. But we figure anytime you are brave enough to get up on that stage is a good thing :D

1st Competition of the Season...

begins today! Macy will be competing in Ballet, Tap & Jazz. No solo for this comp unfortunately. Will post pics and results tomorrow!

She was so bummed!

We FINALLY decided to hit the slopes and Macy was so bummed when she pulled out her favorite ski clothes and they no longer fit. I mean they REALLY no longer fit!!! She ended up wearing Carter's ski pants and one of my ski jackets. (When did she get so big? When did her feet suddenly become the same size as mine?). No worries though, she looked just as stylish in the new outfit as in the old! We ended up having a really fun, sunny day skiing! I'm so glad that skiing is like riding a bike - you never forget how once you have learned :D

Pennywise, the scariest clown ever.....

is making a comeback to the BIG Screen! I loved this book right up until the end when Pennywise morphs into his true self, which I didn't think was scary at all. If he had stayed a clown, the story would have been that much more terrifying! I hate to say it, but I think I will be standing in line to purchase my ticket. Once a Stephen King fan (and I have been for 30 some odd years), always a Stephen King fan.... I wonder if I can get Devin to go with me?......

That's all I've heard for the past two weeks from Carter! Random, I know. So I finally gave in and baked her the apple pie that she had been craving instead of taking the easy way out and buying her an apple turnover from McDonalds. I must say that I was flattered that a fight almost broke out over who got the first piece. Drew says that I should open "Charm City Pies" and grow a goatee... hehehehe....
