So the other day I went to my 4 month check up with my rheumatologist to check the status of the tissue disease, and as he was checking my joints, he discovered my "crunchy" left knee. I had been mentioning to Drew that I have been noticing some pain under this kneecap while running lately. But as I'm am known to do, I have been ignoring it and running anyway. Dr. McMillian has now diagnosed me with "Patellofemoral Syndrome" or runner's knee, as it is more commonly known. Wow, big surprise right? It only took 20 years of running to develop this...
So of course my question to him was, "Does this mean I need it scoped?" And luckily he said to try some physical therapy first (and didn't say to stop running... whew!). Funny thing is that he said my quads were weak, and I'm sitting there thinking "right... I run hills EVERY day, my quads couldn't possible be weak".... Oh well, maybe he's right. My plan of action: keep on running, and if my quads need strengthening, I'll hop on my bike for some cross-training!
The status on the tissue issue - nothing to report!
